Awards & Recognitions
As Soroptimists work to improve the lives of women and girls in their communities
and throughout the world. There are several award & scholarship opportunity available
at the regional and local club level to help meet their mission.
Women's Opportunity Award
An identifying project of Soroptimist International of the Americas, this program is
intended to assist women entering or re-entering the workforce to obtain the skills and
education they need to improve their employment status through higher education.
Awards are given at the club level. Club winners go on to district competition. Funded by
the Soroptimist Foundation, the Region winner receives $5000 and continues to compete at
the Federation level.

Violet Richardson Award
Honoring Young Women for Volunteer Action-this award is named in honor of the
founder of Soroptimist and is a recognition program for young women ages 14-17 engaged
in volunteer action within their communities or schools. The Region winner receives
$1000 with a matching amount to her volunteer organization.

NCR Past Governors Award
This is a special award given by the North Central Region for a woman pursuing
postgraduate studies. This award of $2000 is given annually through special donations of
NCR clubs.
